Maureen Isaacson is the assistant editor and books editor of the Sunday Independent. She is also an . op-ed columnist and feature writer, specializing in in-depth-profiles, interviewing everyone from Doris Lessing and Kiran Desai to Arthur Mutambara. The founding books editor of the Sunday Independent book page, she is the recipient of the 2009 South African Literary Award for Journalism in the Print Media category. She was one of the judges of the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize, Africa region, in 2008. I have for the past two years been on the judging panel of the Sunday Times Alan Paton non-fiction award.
A short story writer, she has published a collection of short stories, Holding Back Midnight. Her short stories have been published in several journals, magazines and anthologies.
